In 2006 I was asked to join a group of cyclists riding from Calgary, Alberta to Austin Texas in support of Cancervive.  The team would ride in teams of six over 8 days and nights.  Through wind, torrential downpours and snow in Nebraska all 30 riders pulled into Austin TX.
